Mr. Bill Green | A Message from out
Superintendent, Mr. Green: Welcome to Quemado Schools! the 2009 - 2010 school year is off to a terrific start. Staff and students are gearing up for more improvements in core subjects (we are focusing on math as well as reading and writing skills) and participation in extra-curricular programs. We offer some exciting opportunities for students of all ages. I am very proud of our staff. We have highly qualified teachers in all areas. They put in a lot of extra time to make sure our programs are the best they can be. Most of them could be teacher of the year candidates on a yearly basis. Our support staff is the best in the state. They keep the ship running smoothly no matter how turbulent things get. Mrs. Brea, our Principal, is a great instructional leader and motivator. Along with all her other duties, she teaches two classes. If you visit our campus, I'm sure that you'll agree with me that our custodial and maintenance staff keep the place in excellent condition. We had a very successful alumni reunion in August to kick off our school year. It was a great time for everyone and we plan to add activities and prizes for the next reunion in 2011. Changes for the next few years include a new alternative graduate program, participation in a new "Class B" athletic class for small schools, a pre-kindergarten program for children under the age of 5, and participation in a new writing program in every classroom. We try the never settle for "good enough." There are always areas to improve. We welcome participation from our community and would like to publicly thank our school board for their support and hard work. Come by and visit us, ask questions, and give us some ideas. We're always open to positive input. I am very thankful for the opportunity to be here, working with people who care and students who want to learn. |
