I was born in Roswell, NM, and grew up in the small farming community of Dexter, New Mexico. I attended school, grades K-12, in this lovely community. During the summers of my junior high and high school years, I chopped cotton, pruned grape vines, and was a life guard and swimming teacher at the Dexter swimming pool to earn money to buy school clothes and such.

I attended Eastern New Mexico University for two years after I graduated from Dexter High School. It was there that I met my husband of 26 years. We have two beautiful children who are now on their own.

In 1987, I completed my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education with a minor in Literature at Kansas State University. Being a person who loves school, I continued my education receiving a Master of Arts in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in Reading from New Mexico State University in 1997. In 2002, I received a Master of Arts in Counseling from Western New Mexico University.

Certifications include teaching grades K-6th, K-12th Art, 7-12th English, and counseling certification for grades K-12. Other jobs that I have are Testing Coordinator, SAT member, and Federal Programs Coordinator.

I enjoy reading, crocheting, art, various crafts, and playing with my grandchildren Kadence and Randin. Being a granny is the greatest thing in the world!
