Welcome to the
     Quemado High School Chapter
          of the
               National Honor Society.

Chapter History The Quemado High School Chapter of the National Honor Society was formed in school year 1991-1992.  It's original member was Mark Lackey.  Since then, the Chapter has inducted many more members.  The Chapter is proud of all its members and the excellent work they have performed at school, in our communities, and after their graduation.

The Chapter completed a major Bylaws revision in the Spring of 2007.  As part of the process of revising the Bylaws, the Chapter completed an in-depth re-evaluation of its purpose, aims and activities.  The final result was not just the updated Bylaws, but also a rededication to the principles of scholarship, character, leadership and service.

2008 was marked by the First Annual Quemado HS Blood Drive.  33 units of blood were donated by students, staff and members of our communities.

Selection Criteria The QHS Chapter reaffirms its support of the Constitution and Bylaws of the National Honor Society.  In the interest of promoting scholarship with an even greater emphasis though, a student must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5 to be considered for membership in the QHS Chapter.

Selection Procedure
  1. The advisor and principal identify all students who have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.5
  2. The advisor notifies the students who meet the scholarship criterion and invites them to apply for membership.
  3. The advisor provides the candidates' applications to the Faculty Council and staff for review.
  4. The Faculty Council interviews the candidates.
  5. The Faculty Council selects the inductees based on the written applications, staff evaluations, and interviews.
