Dear Parents,
Hello let me introduce myself. My name is Ricky Chavez. I am known as what is called a Reading Coach. My job or the duties that I fulfill are to assist the classroom teachers in grades K-3rd in the teaching of reading. I assess data and implement reading strategies or interventions so that the teachers can assist your child in the areas of reading where they may be having difficulties. I also assist the teachers twice a week, both in Datil and Quemado Elementary schools in the teaching of these interventions in order to help your child progress at a rate that pertains to their READING SUCCESS.
Our Goal here at Quemado schools with the help of the Reading First program is to have every child performing at grade level and reading with Fluency and Full Comprehension by the time your child exists the Third grade. The information that your child’s teacher and I will be sharing with you from time to time will be an indicator as to their performance during particular check points throughout the year. If there are concerns, we, as well as you, should be making appointments in order to discuss problems that may be hindering your child’s progress. Also, we will be offering suggestions as to how you can assist in the Educational Welfare of your child’s success.
