The Quemado High School Chapter reaffirms
its support of the Constitution and Bylaws of the
National Honor Society. In
the interest of promoting scholarship with an even greater emphasis though, a
candidate for membership in the Quemado High
School NHS must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 and be proficient or higher on
the New Mexico Standards-Based Assessment to be considered for membership in the
Quemado High School NHS Chapter.
The Quemado High School Chapter of the
National Honor Society was
formed in school year 1991 - 1992. It's original member was Mark Lackey.
Since then, the Chapter has inducted many more members. The Chapter is
proud of all its members and the excellent work they have performed at school,
in our communities, and after their graduation.
The Chapter completed a major
Bylaws
revision in the Spring of 2007. As part of the process of revising the
Bylaws,
the Chapter completed an in-depth re-evaluation of its purpose, aims, and
activities. The end result was not merely the updated
Bylaws,
but also a rededication to the principles of scholarship, character, leadership,
and service.
2008 was marked by the First Annual Quemado HS Blood Drive. 33 units of
blood were donated by students, staff, and members of our communities. The
Chapter has continued to sponsor the Blood Drive twice a year since then,
collected numerous blood donations and saving many lives.
